While the organizing committee recognizes that cutting down on travel is the most effective measure for a sustainable event, we realize that participants will travel from various countries to the meeting. As Zurich is centrally located in Europe, travel times for most European countries are limited and we encourage European participants to consider taking the train. When taking the plane, keep in mind that the airtime efficiency of a direct flight is better than for a flight with stopovers. To further reduce the carbon footprint of your journey, we recommend to book economy class instead of first or business class. You can plan your sustainable trip with the help of these websites:

Public transport in Switzerland is reliable, safe and comfortable and with your public transport ticket, which is included in the registration fee, you can conveniently travel between your hotel, the conference venue and Zurich downtown.

To further reduce our carbon footprint we avoid the use of plastic as far as possible and we offer vegetarian catering only. For the conference banquet apart from a delicious vegetarian menu, also a menu with organic and local meat can be selected. At coffee and lunch breaks we will not offer bottled mineral water but instead tap water will be offered, which is of high quality.

Furthermore, we aim to minimize food waste and in case of any leftovers, these will be provided to a local food sharing organization.
